As explored in the VSG ‘New Visitor’ webinar last year, the number of visitors to the outdoors has increased enormously and as a consequence many of our sites are experiencing visitor behaviours that pose safety risks. In response to these heightened challenges, VSG hosted the first two webinars in the 2021-22 series focusing on providing members with case studies and discussion on how these challenges can be effectively managed – what is working and what is not.

Case studies from VSG member organisations across the nations looked at:

  • Tackling illegal gatherings, litter and shooting! Case studies from Baron’s Hugh, Motherwell and North Kent Marshes
Andy Stokes, David Anderson & Drew Cusick, RSPB
  • “Little by little, a little becomes a lot” – dogs, BBQs and staycations. Experiences from the South West Lakes Trust
Neil Reeves, South West Lakes Trust
